We are looking for a new Finance Manager to join our focused, dedicated team. Presently a voluntary role, this is an opportunity to use your skills and experience to bring proven change to many and have fun along the way as we build something truly transformative.

Role: Finance Manager (Voluntary)

Reports to: Friendship Lab’s Trustees and CEO

Hours: Flexible, part-time (approx. 2–3 hours per week)

The Role

As Finance Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth financial operations of Friendship Lab. Your work will directly support our mission, helping us grow sustainably and serve our community effectively. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing all aspects of bookkeeping, including receipts, payments, data entry, and bank reconciliation.

  • Monitoring and managing cash flow to meet the ongoing operational needs of the charity.

  • Preparing monthly management accounts reports covering all charity funds.

  • Assisting the CEO and trustees in preparing annual budgets.

  • Working with an independent examiner to facilitate the preparation of end-of-year accounts.

Experience and Skills

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

  • Proven experience in computerised bookkeeping, ideally with Xero or similar software.

  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in spreadsheets, Google Drive, and other collaborative tools.

  • Familiarity with systems such as CAF Bank, Beacon CRM, Stripe, and Wise Bank (or a willingness to learn).

  • Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently.

  • A high level of discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • A commitment to, or willingness to support, our Christian ethos and values.
